Join us as the 2020 Lake Huron Place-Based Stewardship Education Summer Institute goes virtual! Make connections with community partners and other educators from around the Lake Huron watershed as you develop or refine your place-based stewardship education project.
This Summer Institute is designed for formal and informal educators to:
- Make connections to the Great Lakes through Great Lakes Literacy
- Develop/make improvements to a robust place-based stewardship education project
- Identify local community needs and strengthen school and community partnerships
- Explore topics on native plant biodiversity, public lands stewardship and school forests
What: An interactive 6-session virtual institute with content posted online weekly
When: Live content sessions on Tuesdays at 9:30-10:30am beginning June 16, with 1-3 hours per week of self-paced learning. ~24 hours of total time commitment
Educator Support: Participants will be eligible to receive a $500 stipend* to support their place-based stewardship education project. Application is required. 20 educators will be selected with priority given to those in the Lake Huron watershed and/or with an ongoing NOAA B-WET project.
*Informal educators must partner with a classroom or student group to be eligible for the stipend
