Great Lakes Steward Ship Initiative Northeast Michigan

On October 29th, A. J. Stibitz visited our Environmental Science class to show us how to tie different flies. Students learned about the various fish in the area while making different fishing lures.  In honor of the Caddisfly larva that we find in Oxbow Creek, students learned how to make young Caddisfly lures. Once the Caddisfly pupa emerges from its case and waits on the surface of the water for its wings to dry, it is vulnerable to fish attacks.  As you can see, our flies are realistic enough to fool the smartest fish.
