Endangered Hine's Emerald Dragonfly Habitat Study by Student Citizen Scientists

Alcona 4-H student stewards and middle school students from Alcona Community Schools contribute to study of endangered Hine's Emerald Dragonflies.
Watershed Studies

Student citizen scientists from Alcona County are getting their feet wet exploring, identifying, and mapping potential habitats for endangered Hines Emerald Dragonfly out at DNR Negwegon State Park.  They are also marking infestations of invasive plants threatening these habitats and Lake Huron biodiversity. These students from Alcona 4-H Student Stewards club and Alcona Middle School are partnering with Michigan Natural Features Inventory, Michigan DNR, Friends of Negwegon State Park, US Fish and Wildlife Service, Huron Pines, Michigan Sea Grant, and many others to accomplish this important, exciting, and fun habitat stewardship project.
