Huron Pines' mission is to protect the Great Lakes by conserving the forests, lakes and streams of Northeast Michigan. Huron Pines helps identify problems, brings together the necessary resources to resolve the issue, and takes the solution from conception to completion.
Huron Pines is a non-profit conservation organization serving Northeast Michigan. Through on-the-ground projects such as river restoration and invasive species management, Huron Pines connects communities, resource agencies, and local governments to find solutions to natural resource issues. As part of a Great Lakes Fisheries Trust grant, Huron Pines is excited to be a resource to inland schools in implementing Place-based Stewardship Education (PBSE) efforts! Huron Pines can help schools connect with community partners, provide guidance on establishing a PBSE program, and support teachers throughout the year in implementing lessons and projects. Our on-the-ground efforts in water and land conservation can provide fun and meaningful opportunities for students to participate in resource stewardship in their own communities.
