Mission

Alpena Township is located in the northeastern lower peninsula of Michigan and has frontage on Lake Huron, Long Lake, the Thunder Bay River and other water sources. Our township encompasses the City of Alpena and contains 125 square miles of land. Our current population, based on the 2010 Census, is 9,060 with the entire county totaling 29,598 residents.  Alpena Charter Township was established February 29, 1859.
