Family Nature Summits is a national environmental education and outdoor program for folks of all ages. Founded by the National Wildlife Federation in 1970, and since 2006 an independently run 501(c)(3) organization, we are offering scholarships for teachers/educators from anywhere East of the Mississippi River to join us at the 2019 Family Nature Summit, July 20-26, 2019.

Visit our website at www.familynaturesummits.org to learn more about our program. We have funding available for one full scholarship, and we may offer additional partial scholarships based on the quality of the applicants and donations available to fund them.

The full scholarship covers registration fees ($775 per adult) and room/board ($808 per adult, double occupancy in a standard room) for the selected teacher and one guest. The value of this package is approximately $3,170. Partial scholarships will cover registration fees for the selected teacher and may cover registration fees for one guest, a value up to $1550. Partial scholarship awardees will be responsible for room and board for themselves and any guests they bring. All scholarship awardees will be responsible for their own transportation to and from the Summit site.

All scholarship awardees will be expected to participate in the full program for the entire week, and at the end of the week, submit a written article or blog post and a video interview of the experience for use in future educational and promotional materials. Program offerings are expected to include nature classes, aquatic adventures, hiking, field trips to areas of interest, classes in art, photography, birding, Petoskey stones, orienteering and geology as well as presentations on various environmental and nature topics, including ways to incorporate nature into teaching. Many of our faculty members are nationally-renowned in their respective fields. Scholarship awardees may also bring other family members at their own expense and are encouraged to bring children as the Family Nature Summit youth programs are an integral and valued part of what we offer.
