Rogers City student, Akia Rutherford wins Thunder Bay International Film Festival Student Competition

Alpena, Mich— The extreme cold didn’t keep residents from enjoying this weekend’s Thunder Bay International Film Festival. Over 100 people gathered at Alpena Community College to enjoy films from all over the world including the student film competition.

Saturday’s winner went to Rogers City High School student; Akia Rutherford for her film, “Exploration is Essential.” Akia said winning helped her over come obstacles she was facing. Akia gave a major shout to her big sister who won 2 years ago. She said that’s where she finds her inspiration.
