The Lake Huron Place-Based Education Summer Teacher Institute is designed so teachers:
- Make connections to the Great Lakes through Great Lakes Literacy
- Address and improve their understanding of Michigan’s education expectations through quality hands—on projects
- Meet the needs of the community and strengthen partnerships between schools and their community
Stipends are provided!
This year, the Institute will again bring 20 teachers from Southeast & Northeast Michigan together to explore place-based education opportunities and make connections with resource professionals and established community projects.
Using Alpena, MI as the centralized hub for the 2014 institute, participants will be introduced to a wealth of projects supported in the northeast Michigan region supported through the network of the NE MI Great Lakes Stewardship Initiative.
